Drivetrain woes......post here.

I have been having the same issue. Dealership says that the DTCM software is up to date so the STAR case S2121000019 does not apply to my Wagoneer. They told me there will probably be one for mine soon. After reading some of these horror stories I am not inclined to just bring it home and hope for the best. Any suggestions on next steps?

@WagoneerCxSvc gave me a jingle about 40 minutes after my service appointment had been scheduled for (the first one of the day) and gave me a run down from the appointment. My wagoneer was delivered back to my house, sparkling clean, and in perfect working order. Obviously things are still being refined, but I am super happy with the customer service I received… from both WCS and the servicing dealer.

When was yours built? The TSB says builds before 10/15, if the TSB doesn't apply, then I assume yours was built after 10/15.

Mine was built before 10/15. Though, I can't check at the moment since it's been sitting at the dealership in service for a week.

I will have to check but it would have been very close to that date as we received in in mid November. My concern is that it doesn’t matter when it was built because it is having all the same issues. To recognize the issues but say they can ot be addressed due to build date is crazy. Obviously if it is a build date after 10/15 then they have more impacted vehicles than they are recognizing.

From what I've heard other people say, you need to force them to open a new STAR case for yours. If it's binding, it can damage the drive train.

What’s crazy is no one seems to know what to do when it starts messing up. I told both WCS and the dealer I would not drive it and to get a tow to my driveway. I get it 4WD vehicles turn like that when they are locked in, what they don’t do is make the groaning/grinding sound.
@benward5 the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so stay on em!

Inwould like to report the same problem as the others.. 4k miles and it drags and moans when making low speed turns. Took it to Suncoast Chrysler in St Pete FL yesterday and they “claimed” they could not duplicate the symptom. it is clearly not “right” and it is NOT the car we bought. We purchased it from A dealership in Clayton GA. please PM me with what I can do to get this remedied

Mine is doing the same thing now right after getting it back from the dealer for repairs to the heated seats ( which still don't work ) and check engine light.

Should we all look at a class action lawsuite as this is very disappointing and destroys all confidence in driving the truck anywhere non local.

Lawsuit, no. The only ones who win that are lawyers.

This is a first-year vehicle. Almost all of the issues are software related, and we've let our software coders accept a mindset of 80% complete, let it fly to customers. Across almost every industry. Sad, but a fact I see every day. And with systems that cost a LOT more than our GWIIIs unfortunately.

Helping yourself by helping the company as they work through it, feeding information into their Advocates for us (Wagoneer Client Services), that works best. Both the company and the person working with them through the issues succeed. Is it frustrating, yes. Is it unusual, read through this forum and you'll find way too many other manufacturers have problems, including the names we all read are 'great' from Germany, Japan, etc. @WagoneerCxSvc is a way to search and see what they've helped others with already.
What you are doing now is the best thing, sharing with others, learning from others (I encourage reading all you can here). One thing more: do directly call WCS. Also keep in mind, they are people who want to help so being kind as you talk with them, best approach. Some things they can immediately help, others they push hard to get fixed and the more people reporting an issue, the higher it gets on 'fix it now' lists at Stellantis.

If you have repeat issues, Stellantis has been stepping up and 'making it right' in many ways. Those examples are also on this forum, buy backs in some cases, etc.
So again, thank you for engaging, sharing and helping us all. I hope you are able to get your dealership to step up their game, or frankly find another one in your area people can recommend that have better mechanics. Your issue has been solved for others, the right dealer should be able to get your vehicle fixed as well.

Keep us informed as you get these items resolved, best to you!

I can easily find a different dealer but the current one is just going by the book from the factory updates and software revisions. If the software is 20% incomplete not sure what any dealer will be able to do. It's just a good thing that this is not an airplane as it would have crashed and burned by now.

Some sort of a buy back is looking pretty appealing right about now.

I mention other dealers because others have already had the seat issue fixed by element replacements.

On the 20% example I mentioned, that's not where this software is today. The heating elements and from what I've seen the bulk of any other issues have been addressed per we members of this forum. Maybe the dealer needs the extra help of your WCS ticket/case number and they can guide them to the latest info to help you. That is needed for any path you want to follow, including Stellantis offering any remdiation for your challenges. Definitely the next step needed, call into WCS or open your account online with them. They've fixed a lot rapidly for many.

Thanks for the support I'll call WCS again on Monday.. The dealer did order new elements just will take 3 weeks to get them.

Will have to see what the new check engine code is. It definitely makes a difference with driving with less power and keeping lower gears on the highway 4th to be exact at 65.

Hopefully the drive train and front end issues can be fixed with a new update as well. Looks like truck was a Nov build if it helps.

The other dealer close buy had not worked on any yet. I bought my other 2 Wranglers from them so easily could go there if they had more experience.

Hi And637, that is good information for the forum members. Getting in the new heat elements has been the only permanent fix I've read online.

A Nov build did have a lot of TSBs, so hopefully your Dealer continues to review them and will add them during your next visit.

A place I've found the TSBs listed is at this URL: You can see each of the categories of TSBs developed for the GW so a good way to learn what you may also need since it goes through December 13th. Some of those items still relate to prior builds in November. You'll see Drivetrain TSBs there along with others.

To me anything found now still should be done against builds from prior dates, since those items obviously still existed before they started using them in assembly lines. At least in my mind's logic. I'd ask for them to be done unless the Dealer can show me they are fixed in the latest released TSBs.

We have the 2022 series III Wagoneer with the exact same moaning/groaning noise in the rear described here that is especially bad when slowing down or turning. It's at the dealership today with this issue and a whole list to go with it. I'm not sure I trust a brand new around 700 miles on it, 90k car on a 14 hour spring break drive. I want my Acura MDX back. :(
