Keys and battery drain

Hi everyone, new to the forum and I figure I'd copy this onto the "general discussion" thread rather than the "introductions".

Regarding the "battery drain" issues and another potential culprit. Our dealer just received a service update from Stellantis regarding an issue with the keys. If you store them anywhere closer than 20 ft. from the vehicle, it will activate some of the electronics, thereby draining the battery. We just had ours replaced within two days of purchase. Looks like we're storing out keys elsewhere for now until a software update occurs

Any more word on this? I hadn't noticed before, and just had all of the applicable software updates done a week ago and today noticed that the WS3 would beep a few times (like a notice to when the tailgate is opening remotely) when I was in the garage without my keys and the driver's dashboard would activate. There would also be clicking emanating from the engine bay. I store my keys on a rack just inside the garage door and wonder if that is the culprit? Didn't have this issue before the most recent software update. Maybe the next one will fix this?

If the TSB says 20 feet, I'd bet on it. Might want to find another place further away.

I had that, made the service tech come to my house 10 miles away. He jump started 2022 Grand Wagoneer ll then after testing discovered bad battery, smelled like rotten eggs replaced battery. They also set the key fob to not turn on the lights and other stuff just by being close. Problem solved.

I left the key fob just to test it and it didn’t repeat. It was random, but no battery drain so I guess we will see. Voltage remains good on the new battery we received upon delivery.
Update...have moved my key away from the garage as there were a few, random repeats. No further repeats with key moved > 20 ft.

Thank you for following up and testing how far away it takes. Nice to see that so far, distance has provided relief. I'll keep this in mind!
