I'm just guessing but I'd imagine the vehicle tries to level itself out/stiffen with the air suspension and puts a few more psi's in the rear while towing to accomplish that. Once the weight is removed the end sits up higher
Edit: I did just look it up and the vehicle has auto leveling while towing
Did correct itself? Was engine on or off when trailer was disconnected? How much was the tongue weight on the hitch? More information might solicit answers.
