Hands-Free Active Driving Assist Status

When I first looked at the Grand Wagoneer last fall, the Stellantis website said that hands-free active driving assist would be "late availability." I didn't know what that meant and asked the dealer, who also didn't know and never received a response from Stellantis (or never passed it on to me). I assume it either means that newer/better technology will be incorporated into later builds of the 2022 models or that all builds have the technology but that it won't be activated until later. I can no longer find that language on the website, and I haven't been able to find any statements from Stellantis or news organizations on this feature. Given that it competes directly with GM's Super Cruise (which was pulled from the 2022 Escalade because of the microchip shortages), more clarity would be great. Does anyone on this forum know what the plans are and whether the current builds will feature hands-free active driving assist through an OTA update?

Back in May I asked the Wagoneer Concierge when hands-free active driving assist would be available and if it would be an OTA update. They did not know when it would be available but said it would have to be done in production and that existing vehicles would not be able to receive it OTA. I took delivery of my GWIII the first of December. My vehicle does not have hands-free ADA, but oddly my Connect account says that it does. I have not followed up on that with Wagoneer Client Services. I can report that ADA functions extremely well. You only have to keep a finger lightly resting on the steering wheel for it to function. It really makes driving on the road more relaxing.

I noticed the same on my Connect account saying I have the service although I do not have hands free driving at present. Is the hardware even present? I haven’t found a cabin facing camera yet. I also read that there is “drowsiness monitoring” but I’m not sure how that occurs either.

Hope this helps, you can find these items described on the Wagoneer site, https://www.jeep.com/wagoneer/grand-wagoneer/safety-security.html
