Well, I had the opportunity to take the Grand Wagoneer on a long trip this week. I went to Nashville, and it was a 4 hour trip each way for 8 hours total. Here are a few things I noticed on the trip.
1. The wireless Android auto worked, but the phone ( Samsung Fold 3) got somewhat hot while using Android auto and sitting on the wireless charging pad. I also noticed that the phone would not fully charge to 100% like it does when it's plug into the USB C outlet. Not a big deal but somewhat of a surprise.
2. The ride was amazing. It is truly a very nice ride.
3. I got a lot of people looking and questions as they saw the Wagoneer. A couple people were surprised it was so large, but everyone liked the way it looked.
4. I'm not used to pulling up so far to fill up the gas tank. The first two times the gas hose almost did not reach the tank opening. Easy fix now that I'm used to it.
5. I called the assist line, by pushing the button in the Wagoneer, just to ensure everything was hooked up correctly. This was an interesting experience. First they could not recognize who I was by calling in from the car, never had that happen before with other cars. She asked for the VIN number which was hard to do while driving, but I had taken a picture of it prior and just pulled up that picture. Once she had the VIN everything showed up just fine. However, even though this was a brand new car as I previously shared someone backed out of their order, it appeared the dealer had gone the step to start to set them up. It was not a big deal but took some time to get everything in my name. The person was not very knowledgeable about the services offered, but did try to help. Then we got a bad connection and she said she could not her me, I could hear her, and she said she was hanging up and if I needed anything else to just press the assist button again. So, not a smooth experience but glad I called to get that prior person off the account.
6. I set up the back to screen and that went fine through the Wagoneer Wi-Fi spot. I found it interesting each backseat screen had to be set up as individual devices, in other words I had to login in two times for everything- i. e. Netflix.
7. The infrared camera has a great picture and picked people up very clear in downtown Nashville, and it's very easy to turn off and on.
8. One thing I don't really like unless I'm missing it, is that there is no mute button for the stereo., on the main center screen. You have to turn the volume down all the way on the main screen. I did find out that if you have the media on, Sirius XM, in the drivers screen (between the tack and speedometer) it does give you the option to mute the stereo there. But the only time I had that one is when I was using Android Auto and SiriusXM does not show up on the center screen. Very odd setup.
9. The Wagoneer was very easy to maneuver in a big city like Nashville, and I was able to fit in all the parking garages and parallel parking spots. I did not need the parallel parking assistant but will try that soon.
Overall after a long trip and putting just over 800 miles this weekend on the Wagoneer, it's still a great vehicle and looks like it will be some serious competition for the Escalade and Navigator.
