FCA Addendum- Trailer Towing Not Allowed 2022 Wagoneer

Has anyone else found this loose paper Addendum enclosed with your owners manual? If not, please check for it.
Just purchased a 2022 Wagoneer 2 days ago expecting to tow 7660 lbs. Wagoneer has no explanation for this, in fact, it was the first one the dealership and Wagoneer support saw. The dealership found at least 2 more Addendums on different Wagoneers on their lot. It's been 1 1/2 days and still no answers.

Here's what the Addendum says:

Model: 2022 Wagoneer (EXCLUDES GRAND WAGONEER)
Subject: Trailer Towing
Overview: Towing is not allowed on Wagoneer vehicles equipped with Trailer Tow Delete, or not equipped with the Heavy Duty Tow option.

This is ludicrous. What the hell is Jeep thinking with this vehicle at this price point?? And the folding mirrors, etc.

Isn’t a hitch welded onto the frame of EVERY Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer regardless of HD trailer package? This is very weird. I know the lack of the optional trailer package may very well lower the rating but you still should be able to tow a substantial amount.

I have a GW on order and selected the trailer package. Just out of curiosity, I called Wagoneer Client Services to inquire about the tow rating without the package - sadly, no one seems to know. They actually opened up a case for me to find out; was contacted by a woman this week saying she hopes to have me the information next week. I’ll report back if I hear anything but would I would think WCS and your dealer should be able to quickly tell you this info…

This is real fishy. It says the integrated hitch is not accessible. The tow/haul option is available, but the trailer lights will not function? Something is going on. They found something they don’t like and instead of telling consumers the whole truth, we get this bullshit.

Did a little digging and here are the towing capacities per model directly from Mopar's website. Only thing I can think of is if something was deleted from your specific vehicle because of a parts shortage. Is there any sort of option delete or credit on your window sticker? If you add your vehicle to Mopar's website and create an account, it should tell you your vehicle's specific limit.

The more I read on this forum, the less I want to take delivery when mine arrives.
I certainly can understand these concerns. You have to realize that many of the Wagoneer buyers (I'd say car buyers in general) won't go out of their way to rush to a forum, create an account, and gush about how perfect their vehicle is. When someone has an issue or a problem I'd argue they're much more inclined to unload about it online and ask for help - you have to take everything you read with a grain of salt as a result. Nonetheless, I do not feel Jeep's dealer network nor their Wagoneer Client Services team was anywhere near ready to provide the luxury experience the brand was aiming for. We also have BMWs in my household and the BMW dealership experience - from their client advisors, to finance, to management, to service - is in a league I don't think Jeep will ever be able to touch. I say the same thing about Lincoln with past Lincolns I've had as well. Some brands are luxury at their core and provide the experience and others simply do not. Removing the Jeep badging still does not fix the oftentimes abysmal experience of going to a CJDR dealership.

I have the same addendum and only found it today after specifically looking for it (purchased our Wagoneer Series III last week). It is odd, and there should be an explanation from Jeep/FCA. My hope is that it is something simple like the need to add a trailer brake controller.

So i checked my owners manual and the only Addendum i had was for the forward collision sensors. Nothing about towing and i dont have the tow package. Series 3 wagoneer.

Here is the reply that I finally received from Wagoneer Client Services. I am still a little uneasy about this. There is no explanation as to why this Addendum was placed in all of these Wagoneers from the start. Something had to spur this included documentation. Please do diligence and investigate for yourself what this all means.20220101_085005.jpg

I agree that happy people generally don’t come to these forums to effuse their praise. But this is more serious and troublesome than the usual initial quality bumps in the road that JD Power is so interested in. It doesn’t seem like this one was ready for prime time and I not sure I’m up for the hassles and aggravation that is almost certainly in my future here. Just got out of a 2018 Navigator and I’m taking a hard look at another one of those. In the mean time, my wife is going to daily my new RS6 Avant; so another reason I wouldn’t mind getting her something before mine finally ships (been in ready to ship status for almost nine weeks with 6 ship dates that have all been missed. WCS is now not giving a new date and has no additional information 😐)

Sounds like there may have been at some point the option to remove trailer towing hence the “Equipped with Trailer Tow Delete” ?? Crazy that addendum could get out though.

PREACH it, brother! Couldn't agree more. Not being negative - but they are NOT ready for prime time!

Owner's Manual addendums are common and nothing to be concerned about UNLESS your vehicle has the "Trailer Tow Delete" option. If it came with a hitch, you're good to tow.
