Wiper blade replacement

So. At 8k miles my blades suck. Did some research on the best ones going these days. RainX. Head down to Advance Auto, check the size and buy two 24” blades at almost $40 a pop.

guess what? They don’t fit. It’s not the at they aren’t the right size. I couldn’t figure out how to install them, scanned the QR as a last resort, enter the make and model and damn if RainX says they don’t make any that fit the GW. Not the right connector at all. It has to have a square pin that snaps in.

Back to square 1 🤣 And no, I’m not getting Triclor. Lol

Thanks for the heads up on RainX, I was going to look for replacements myself. Guess I need to look at that connector. Didn't think of that, buying them for my prior truck wasn't a big deal as some other brands are adding in all kinds of connector adapters. The hunt is on...

I had the Michelin ones from Costco on a previous car, they weren't bad but not great. I'll agree on Bosch, I have the best ones on my wife's car and I actually think they stink.

Here's a trick you can try, get an alcohol swab pad from your dr office or go to your local pharmacy to buy a box. They are cheap in price. Take the pad a swab down the rubber blade. You'll see black residue and dirt. That will extend your blade till replacement and improve performance in clearing your windshield.

There is another too, but I think the product is no longer being made. The product was Top Job. I used to add just a cap full from the bottle into windshield washer fluid. Did it ever clean my windshield and never had a problem with my wiper blades. Plus, it didn't do anything to paint. Smell good too; however, if you ceramic coated glass, don't try it.

I’ve done the alcohol thing and it lasts a week or so. I’m in s. FL so we get A LOT of rain. And bugs. I’ve had bugs actually bend the rubber on Tricos. You hit a 3” dragonfly in the swamp, the sucker will almost crack the windshield. 🤣

The bugs are the bane of my existence. Although I will say the bugs in western Michigan were pretty intense.

I was headed to Miami once and went to change lanes and found a hitchhiker on my window. Still not sure where I picked him up. The pic is attached. Sadly, he decided to bail in the middle of rush hour traffic.

We’re headed to Key Largo soon. Taking the 392 (Beastie) instead of Bessie (GW3). Have a Gobi rack on her and it’s easier to load the kayaks and SUP than on the crossbars.

I'm still looking for after market blades, any insight is always appreciated.

I haven't changed the blades yet. Usually, I change blades after 24 to 30 months out. Most of the time, the dealership would swap out old blades with a LOF. Sometimes dealerships run a special in prices and maybe a rebate too. I discovered that dealership blades were better and cheaper over time than Autobarn, Costco, etc.
