Wagoneer SR3 vibration at 75

Hello all, picked up our Wagoneer in Toledo and drove back to Chicago. Noticed a vibration on highway at 75 and up. Gets worst faster you go. Thought maybe bad tire or balance. So got new tires and rebalanced and issue still there. Going to take to local dealer, but thought I would reachout here first. I see lots of drivetrain issues while turning. Thinking maybe drivetrain issue. Maybe driveshaft? Hope it just bad wheel, not sure why tire shop didnt point that out. Thoughts? thanks much

We never could feel the vibration but could hear a horrible one last week at 70, and after about 10 minutes it went away. Having it ceramic coated today and detailer sent me this.

Its been at the dealer for 4 days. Ruled out wheels and tires. Now looking at driveshaft. Keep you posted.
What about the piece that is gone from the picture the other person showed? Was that something that could be wrong on your GW as well?

And did you buy the tires yourself or did the Dealer offer them to you?

Unreal! I've never heard of it either. I've had a lot of new vehicles, including a few 1st year ones. First time to see this issue ever.

Considering the amount of automation being done for Quadra-Trac, etc. I guess running it above 35 for the first 100 might have locked in a different set of parameters. Or, it was just a bad driveshaft from the OEM.

I added the AT tires. Stock stuff junk.

I noted this week - similar "soft shmmy/vibration" at or above 70MPH -

I have aftermarket 22" Fuel Vapor and Continental ATs.

Will be going back for dealer (who installed) to review the balance - but will also keep this in mind (driveshaft).

Did your dealers or your owners manual say there was a break in period?

I say that because Jeep made it clear to us that there was a break in period for our Wrangler 392 and the GW basically has the same engine. I can’t tell you how painful it was babying her. We made it a little better by taking her up A1A from Ft. Lauderdale to Jupiter and back, but that is a very LONG drive to 300. But somewhere around page 6 it has this:

0 to 100 miles (0 to 161 km):
• Do not allow the engine to operate at idle for an extended period of time.
• Depress the accelerator pedal slowly and not more than halfway to avoid rapid acceleration.
• Avoid aggressive braking.
• Drive with the engine speed less than 3,500 RPM.
• Maintain vehicle speed below 55 mph (88 km/h) and observe local speed limits.

100 to 300 miles (161 to 483 km):
• Depress the accelerator pedal slowly and not more than halfway to avoid rapid acceleration in lower gears (1st to 3rd gears).
• Avoid aggressive braking.
• Drive with the engine speed less than 5,000 RPM.
• Maintain vehicle speed below 70 mph (112 km/h) and observe local speed limits.

300 to 500 miles (483 to 805 km):
• Exercise the full engine rpm range, shifting manually at higher rpms when possible.
• Do not perform sustained operation with the accelerator pedal at wide open throttle.
• Maintain vehicle speed below 85 mph (136 km/h) and observe local speed limits.

• Do not participate in track events, sport driving schools, or similar activities during the first 1500 miles (2414 km).

I copied this from owers manual Grand Wagoneer.

ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
An initial break-in period is recommended for the powertrain (engine, transmission, axle, etc.) in your vehicle. Adhering to the following the guidelines will contribute to improved longevity, fuel economy, and performance.

Drive moderately during the first 100 miles (160 km). After that, for the first 500 miles
(800 km), avoid long periods at constant speed. Varying speed, engine RPM, and throttle position is desirable.

Avoid high performance, severe off-road, and towing for the first 500 miles (800km).

NOTE:
A new engine may consume some oil during its first few thousand miles (km) of operation. This should be considered a normal part of the break-in and not interpreted as a problem. For engines not equipped with an oil level sensor, please check your oil level frequently during the break-in period. Add manufacturer-approved oil as required
