UConnect Reset

What is the proper method to reset the radio (UConnect) system.? I have been simply holding down the volume button until the screen goes black and then it seems to reset. Others have said use both volume and tuning and to have ignition on but engine not running. Is there a recommended method or do all of these work? Also, what's the difference between this reset and the reset within vehicle settings?

Uconnect® reset:

  1. With the car in park, turn the ignition on to “Run.”
  2. Simultaneously press and hold the volume knob and tuner knob at the same time for about 20 to 30 seconds.
  3. If done correctly, the display will flash your vehicle’s brand and restart.

Thanks Doc. While on a road trip yesterday my system would drop travel and Weather and sometimes CarPlay if I would switch to a different function such a climate. If I held the volume control down the screen would go black and then restart with the Jeep logo and sometimes starting TomTom. Everything would work good then until I changed function. Many of the functions within UConnect are starting to work more often but still very "glitchy" or inconsistent.

You may ask dealer to recalibrate your entire UConnect. I think thats the term my S/A used. I was having issues with Apple CarPlay staying connected. They did a calibration / hard reset and so far....voilla. No issues since.

Thanks Doc. I've been waiting for the big update that's supposed to do the seats etc so I'll have them do the UConnect also.
