To order, or to wait…that is the question.

I have been back and forth and over again trying to decide if I’m going to order a series III Grand or if I’m going to roll the dice and wait for the next year’s model to see if it is available in the blue, which I adore. Hard to picture spending 100k on a car that isn’t EXACTLY what I want.

BUT, I am concerned. With the gov’t eye on slashing emission, will they make a V8 Grand next year?

I’m also on the fence because initially I thought I’d be going after the Grand Cherokee L V8. If it was available in blue now, I’d probably go that route and save 35k.

First world decisions. Lol

I feel you. Was thinking about MB AMG GLS or Escalade and along comes this hottie. What a jewel the GW III will be. I'm waiting on FCA to settle my lemon law on my 20 RAM Ecodiesel and then will chose between the 3. Enjoy your ride whatever choice you make.

I‘M currently in a ‘17 Audi Q7. It has performed really well and I have almost 70k miles on it. I thought I’d go with them again until I found out the L has massage seats. I have them in the Q7 and will not have another car without them. I looked at the GLS 550 and Escalade and did a pretty detailed comparison between available options and GW III comes out better overall, I think. And then for the price, it might be the L. If that blue was available now there’d be no question. Or if I could do the velvet red with the Tupelo interior I’d go that route too. I just feel like the current color combos are boring. Every SUV in my area is silver, gray or black.

good luck with the settlement. We had a GC summit with eco diesel and won’t do that again, That scrubber failed 2x under warranty and we traded it pretty quickly to get out from under that mess.

For me, the answer's a simple one--to wait. Waiting for the (fingers crossed) 4XE PHEV with the new Inline six high output engine. I'm thinking the would-be mpg would be much better with no loss-of-power compromise. Already been driving my VOLVO XC90 T8 PHEV since 2017. What a beautiful marriage of technology. You can do it Grand Wagoneer.

Boring maybe, but you can never go wrong with that charcoal gray (with the black/dark interior). It will be timeless especially if you are a longer hauler like me. I tend to buy brand new and keep for 8-10 years. Even though I haven't gone to the dealers yet to closely checkout the caddy or the benz, something tells me that the GW is gonna be a no brainer. I really hope they come correct with their service dept and experience. I've got no time to be mishandled at the dealership when the time comes for service/maint.

Our local dealer had a Cherokee L that I looked at yesterday. It was an Overland. Nice, but I wasn’t super impressed.

Lucked out and discovered a dealer about 50 miles away was having a Grand Wagoneer event today. I went and now I’m hooked.

FWIW, the event was slated to go from 5-10 pm. We got there at 5:10 and stayed an hour. We were the only ones there. We got to spend a lot of time with the toys and looking at the details. The massage function blows the massage in my Audi Q7 out of the water. They were just setting up what looked to be hot dog/hamburger grill when we left, so IDK if they will get a bigger crowd.

The dealer is super small in FL, almost no parking. According to the sales lady, they are a force in the Midwest/Northeast. Spitzer CDJR.

Glad to hear it. I drive a 2017 VOLVO XC90 T8. I love the massage functions as well as the PHEV. I'm using the VOLVO as the benchmark for any future vehicle purchase. Just completed a 9,800 mile cross country road trip and it performed remarkably in all aspects. Gonna be needing that outta the GW as well. I've been studying the detail in the visual design of the GW and IMHO does it ever impress. I've always had a soft spot for big-bodied vehicles. Waiting on FCA to do the right thing and power it up correctly with that in-line 6 (Tornado?) PHEV that has been rumored.

Interested to get any additional feedback from your early observations of this beauty-n-beast.
A few questions:
1. Did the teak wood (located in the headlights housing) make it to final production?
2. The hi-mount rear brake lamp, is that embedded into the top middle of the rear glass?
3. Is there a top grab handle above the driver door frame ?
4. Did you get to sit in the front seats, if so how is the head/leg room (I'm 6'4")?
5. Did you get a taste of the McIntosh Audio?

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

We should see something soon about the Wagoneer PHEV

Just found out my local Jeep dealer is having GW reveal event this evening. If I can get there I’ll see if I can get some answers.

From what I saw on the demo model (series 3), the front seat grab handle is on the A pillar, same placement as the RAM 1500. Could not check on seat adjustability since the vehicle was not powered up. Hence could not test out the sound system or any electronics. Interesting that since the 2nd row seats only slide forward via a electronic button, they could not be slid forward to access the third row the way it’s meant to be accessed, but fold handle by the floor would get the backrest folded down completely allowing you to climb over. Did not see any teak wood but may have missed it.

other notes:
1). All touch surfaces were well finished and appropriately soft and upscale feeling.
2). The massive amount of piano black in the center console area looked even more massive in person. Those surfaces will be getting dirty quick and require frequent wipe downs to look fresh.
3). All seats were super padded and very comfortable.
4). Doors did not want to open smoothly, felt kind of stuck when opening and also did not make a clean sound when closing, could be due to not being a full production model but I would expect those to function better come production time, especially the door closing sound, which I normally don’t pay attention to but the sound was that off that it was noticeable.

Overall our impression was this was definitely superior to any full size SUV we’ve looked at and worthy of the price tag it’s commanding. We’ve sat in every other full size SUV on the market with the exception of the Escalade and all of them left us like we wern’t getting our money’s worth, especially with the GM/Chevy twins. Definitely a home run for keep. Now if only the dealer experience, service, engagement, professionalism was on par with what we’ve experienced by also owning vehicles outside of the CJDR family, it would be a no-brainer. This will be our biggest roadblock should we seriously consider a future purchase. I know Jeep is touting the 10 promises for GW customers, we’ll see how well that’s executed.

Thanks for your feedback. We couldn't agree more. The service & treatment after the sale is gonna have to be banging on all cylinders. Don't want to be crammed into a baby jeep or dodge car when the time comes to keep the GW for overnight service. Gonna be grilling them hard on this aspect. Do me right or leave me be.

The Escalade is also on our list but only because of the duramax diesel option. Other than that, gonna have to learn to like the fancy GM (just not feeling them).
