McIntosh Surround Sound Missing

I just got off the phone with Wagoneer Services and they have said that the missing surround sound function for the McIntosh system is a known issue. There is a planned software update slated to be released in June to rectify. Just thought I would post to all affected by this as I am. Wagoneer Series III.

Thanks for this update, good to know!!!

They keep pushing back the fix for this. I would be shocked if the update to fix the last update which took away surround sound actually comes out in June.
I could see it being pushed out, considering the other more urgent software fixes like the Powertrain stuff they did in the 1st quarter, battery drain fixes, etc. Agree it may go past June, very possible.

Interesting. I wonder if there's a different version for Wagoneers VS Grands? Just checked my software and I have S21B.5. Dealer made sure I was all up to date on Monday and I don't see any updates available when I check.

Since your’s is a “B” version and my Wagoneer Series III is a “D” version, there may be some subtle differences…but there should be no way that they would omit the surround sound from an update… that is a big whoopsie! Keeping my fingers crossed for the update in June! Other than this minor hiccup, the vehicle is great! Should have power folding mirrors though…..

Where is the surround option supposed to be located in the settings?

It is in the Audio section, see below list from Mopar's System Manual. I actually turned it on this morning on my GW. Hope this helps.

Audio

When the Audio button is pressed on the touchscreen, the system displays options related to the vehicle’s sound system. These settings can change the audio location within the vehicle, adjust the bass or treble levels, and auto-play settings from an audio device or smartphone.
Note:
Depending on the vehicle’s options, feature settings may vary.

Setting NameDescription
Balance/FadeThis setting will adjust audio levels from specific speakers in the front/back and left/right of the vehicle. The Speaker icon can be moved to set audio location.
EqualizerThis setting will adjust the “Bass”, “Mid”, and “Treble” ranges of the audio.
Speed Adjusted VolumeThis setting will adjust audio volume as speeds increase. At a higher setting, the volume will increase more as the vehicle speeds up. The available settings are “Off”, “1”, “2”, and “Max”.
Surround SoundThis setting will turn the Surround Sound system on or off.
AUX Volume OffsetThis setting will tune the audio levels from a device connected through the AUX port. The available settings are “+” and “-”.
Auto PlayThis setting will automatically begin playing audio from a connected device.
Auto-On RadioThis setting will automatically turn the radio on when the vehicle is started, if selected. The available settings are “Off”, “On”, and “Recall Last”. With Recall Last, the system resumes the previous task before vehicle shut off.
Radio off With DoorThis setting will keep the radio on when a door is opened or until the Radio Off Delay time is reached. The available settings are “On” and “Off”.
Volume AdjustmentThis setting will allow you to set the audio volume levels for each option (Media, Phone Call, Phone, Navigation, etc.). You can set the volume between 0 and 38.
Media ExpanderThis setting will allow you to turn the Media Expander setting “On” or “Off”.

This is correct. However, the "Surround Sound" button is no longer present in my system. It has been removed from this area completely. All I can adjust is the 3 band EQ , balance and fade.

Are you in a Wagoneer or GW? I read others who said the Wagoneer button was removed but is slated to return in the June update. It was causing some sort of issues due to the code from what I have been able to piece together from various sites and threads in this forum.

I have a Wagoneer Series III with the McIntosh 19 speaker system. That is what I've been told by the support team as well. Fingers crossed for a June release! It has diminished the quality of the system overall. Still good, but not nearly what it was before the "update".

Still cannot figure out if there are any updates I need to install and how to start them
There is a System selection in UConnect, it should show the version, etc. Supposedly it 'calls home' every so often for update checks. I haven't tried it so I can't recall if there was a Check Updates option like Windows. Manual is huge, still going through it myself after picking mine up Saturday. Could be a section in there, I'm at the office right now so I can check later today.

Updates are automatic. The latest version of the software for the Uconnect system is S21D.5 for the Wagoneer and S21B.5 for the GW.

No. That is the version that I have. Someone on this forum said they had a GW with the S21B.5. I definitely have the S21D.5. All I know is I lost the surround and had the "Eco Manager" app for a short time after the update. Now it is gone too.

Just makes zero sense how we have different updates but hope it gets fixed
