Electrical Glitch

Tonight we had some weird issues. We have a WS2 with the convenience package and premium package. Started it up and the dash information screen came on with a warning the the auto start function was unavailable and to contact the dealer and the center screen came up with the warning that the SOS function was unavailable. Turned it off and back on, same warnings. Drove home, about 30 minute drive, and none of the buttons on the steering wheel would work (cruise, menu button, etc.) and the windshield wiper tree also wouldn’t work. The buttons in front of the shift knob (lane keep, parking, etc.) were also dark and not functional. Thank god I had the windows coated when I had it ceramic coated last week, because it was raining like mad and I had no wipers. Anyway, got home, turned it off and back on, and the same warnings came back up along with the auto headlights not functioning warning. Also, none of the upper console buttons would work (sunroof, assistance, etc.). Went in for about a half an hour, started it back up, nothing wrong. We have had this thing for a few weeks, but had it ceramic coated and were out of town, so it’s the first tank of gas still. Anyone else have similar issues? Will call the dealership tomorrow and have them pick it up, just not confident they will find anything now that the problem is magically gone.

Taking a leap here, but if you had the Ceramic Coating done while gone, and you add up the fact the heptic buttons don't 'turn off' ever, wonder if they were accidentally triggered. Might need, I shudder to say, a factory reset to put everything back.

Another thought, Programmers put sequences in for emergency access, etc., hopefully not something anyone would do normally using the system however that only goes so far. You have to use something that a tech wouldn't say "No darn way I'm doing that!" just to get system access. Could have been done in the shop as well.

Either way the logs for UConnect should have data for the Dealership or Stellantis, depending on how deep this goes to a root cause.

First person to report this behavior, sorry you had to do so. Let's see who else may have seen this, the closest reported by @And637 was them sitting in a driveway, stopped while the dash said 36mph!

Sorry, haven’t been able to give an update after the dealer looked at this. In short, they found nothing. No error codes or system entries. The best the service manager can surmise is something happened during boot up of all of the system modules and the couple times I started and restarted it, the system was still not in full sleep mode and still contained the error. When we went in to eat, the fob was away from the vehicle along with us, allowing the system to go into full sleep mode. When we started it again, the modules booted up properly and we haven’t seen this issue since.

They did update everything so I am hopeful he is correct.

That is good that your vehicle is back and working properly. It is too bad they couldn't determine the real root cause. As you mentioned, they did do updates, that too would potentially wipe out logs, etc. and overwrite any possible bad code segments as well. Another mystery. So far no one else has had this issue, hope it was a pure one off.

Thanks for the updates to close it out, hope you get the chance to settle in and enjoy it! I have trouble getting anyone who rides with me OUT of the passenger seat! It's a great ride, hope that is what you experience from here on.

It sounds like your vehicle had a hick-up for a short moment in time. Your dealer looked her over and updated all TSBs plus the software; You are good to go.
Also, Keep an eye out for battery charge in your dashboard view every so often as your drive to see hows it's charging. You should see maybe around 13.9 to 14.5 volts on the gauge. Do you have stop/start in your WS2?

Yes we do have start/stop. That was another slight issue they looked at. There were a couple of times it acted weird starting from a stop sign with the engine off. First time, at night, the lights went really dim at restart and the engine hesitated. The second time, during the day so no lights on for reference, it hesitated almost to the point of stalling. There was an update to the start/stop software plus one for the crankshaft position sensor that they updated. Early yet, but the whole restart seems smoother.
