Ceramic coating thread in Exterior

I have ceramic tint on the windows if that's what you mean,....body protection film is a completely different product, I don't think they have the same "ceramic" properties as tint. I have it on both my vehicles and am happy. With that said I don't think it's a huge difference over regular tint.

After re-reading I think you may be referring to ceramic coating...like a wax type product? I don't care for them but many do, I personally enjoy waxing my vehicles.

Thank you, I am looking at both the Ceramic tint on windows and the coating for the body.

What brand did you have applied, or did you go the DIY route?
Have you found it worked well with the snow/chemical melt over the winter? Easy to clean up?

Thanks!

I just have window tint.....not ceramic coating. If you're into detailing it's easy to apply a coating, the most important part is the prep work. I personally am sticking with sealants and carnuba waxes, but many swear by coating.

Thanks, good to know.

Any issues with Cell coverage? Some coatings seem to mention that as a possible concern with their competitor products. Considering how Sales/Marketing love to use Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt (FUD) I like to ask but only give it a little credence.

I've had full "ceramic" and 200 dollar tint jobs....I've had a lot of cars and honestly have never noticed any difference besides the quality of the application.

I've purchased and applied myself, ceramic coatings to the paint of a variety of vehicles. Expect to pay between $1000-1500 for a good quality, long lasting exterior ceramic coating. And a quality shop will have a vehicle the size of a Wagoneer a couple of days. Good luck

Good to know, thank you! Did you prefer any brand more than others? I have been reading some allow water to shed off in sheets, most bead up for water run off.

Ceramic is BS. A full "ceramic" job looks good because of the polish prep work. I'm a detail fanatic and you ain't touching any of my cars with ceramic.

Has anyone had full PPF done to their ride? I'm curious about the badging challenge for the doors with the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer and American Flag items along with the raised letters on the liftgate. Wouldn't that be an issue for Detailers? Other badge issues I've read require ordering replacement kits as they badging doesn't come off in a way that allows easy replacement. Detailers order replacement kits to be safe.

My guess would be they'd need to remove the emblems, unless they wrap around them. I replaced my emblems and it's a PITA, it would be next to impossible to reuse the emblems you take off unless you have infinite patience
