Build date pushed 2 MONTHS?

Grand Wagoneer Friends and Dealers,

I ordered a black Grand Wagoneer series 3, black interior, fully loaded July 19th. It had a VIN number and was scheduled to be built 9/28/21. I just called my dealership and had them check to see if it has moved in the computer. I heard back from the dealership stating the build date has now been changed to 11/21/21.

I did see that he modified my order on 9/24/21 because he had my address incorrect on the order (personal instead of business), now suddenly my build date has moved two months. Is this because he “modified” my order to change the address or because of another reason?

I’ve never heard of anyone’s build date being pushed TWO MONTHS when the build date arrived (unless it’s happening to people and I just haven’t heard about it).

Looking for feedback from dealers and from anyone else that may have experienced their build date being pushed by two months or another extensive time period. I want to make sure this date wasn’t pushed because of the salesman’s error in my address and then him having to “modify” the order to correct it. When I asked him why the date was pushed he said he wasn’t sure, maybe because of the chip shortage.

If there are any dealers on here that will have a Grand Wagoneer, series 3 fully loaded to sell let me know. Heck I will probably be able to buy one off of a lot before my vehicle is even built at this point! Feedback please…..

Sincerely,
FRUSTRATED 😤

That sucks regardless. Sorry to hear. I'm ordering my Black Series II (all options but the rear passenger displays) today. I was in a dealership, that I RAN away from and did not use (different story), and the salesman that seemed to know what he was talking about said one of the National reps told him (you still with me?) that they were essentially out of the chips that control the air suspension for the Cherokee L line. He said all current Cherokee L's are rolling off the line without the air suspension.

I obviously asked him if that was the case for the Wagoneers and he said that conversation was centered around the Cherokee L's so he doesn't know and doesn't know if they are even using the same chips. All of the automobile manufacturers are dealing with this same problem and none of them are sharing details other than generalized statements that they are experiencing part supply constraints across all lines.

I can't imagine that an address change would affect your build date. I would think it would be due to some other reason. Unfortunately, I don't think you are ever going to know the true cause for your delay. Hopefully, they are putting all of the air suspension chips into the Wagoneers that would have a much higher margin! :)

That dealership also wanted 5% down to place an order and was going to force me to get a BS $1,900 dealer package of tinted windows, Security GPS Tracking, some kind of windshield buffing, clear door trim covers, etc. I called a dealer about an hour from me, a little further out of the DFW area, and they will gladly place my order for $500 down at MSRP.

I would say that it's highly doubtful a change of your address is the cause. Even if the address for the dealership changed, I don't really see that as causing an issue.

When you say fully loaded, are you talking about the HD tow package and the entertainment package, too? If so, they are having issues with those. I have seen many people say they have been delayed due to not enough parts being available.

That right there is one of the main reasons why people hate dealerships. You are not a customer to them, you are just a number. The only time you matter is when you are paying for your vehicle. Once you're done with the financing part, you will probably never ever hear from them again.

The chip shortage is delaying production on many levels with Jeep products, as it is with all manufacturers. My GWS3 was built in early August and, has been in JS status since then. The ship date has continued to get moved out and is currently showing October 30, 2021. It’s frustrating but you need to realize Jeep is not immune and dates are being extended. In the meantime, don’t get jerked around by misinformed or opportunistic dealers.

If they are in JS status, they should be fully built waiting to ship, not waiting on chip sets.

Same issues with the Escalade production. They are now rolling off the line without retractable side-steps, Supercruise, 4 way lumbar support, and steering lock (security feature.) Audi is doing the same thing (just go to AudiUSA.com to see the big disclaimer that your car might be missing features due to missing chips.) :0

Or... he knew he could sell the first GW allocation for $30k over MSRP in this market so he figured he would push the sold @MSRP order down the road. Sadly we are seeing this happen :-/.

Stellantis is really getting hit hard with semiconductor shortages right now. Several plants continue to be on and offline.

I got my VIN a mere five months ago on my GW Series III loaded.
It's already in the final inspection save. A good chance it will come for Christmas!
