Battery Issue Wagoneer Series 3

I've mentioned this in another thread but thought it would get more visibility with its own thread. We purchased a Wagoneer Series 3 just 3 weeks ago and since then the battery has died 3 times. The first time we became aware of the issue was when the dealership had the car to look at some cosmetic things we had noticed when purchasing such as a deep scratch on the front passenger screen and a missing piece on the rear entertainment screen. While the car was there the check engine light came on and the service concierge told us that they had heard that this was an issue these new cars had been having. They told us that they usually just have to crash the computer to fix the problem. When we picked up the car 5 days later they told us that the issue could happen again. Well.... exactly 6 days later the battery was dead. My husband used a trickle charger to charge the battery because I thought I had drained the battery when setting up all the tech earlier that day. We made it exactly a week and when we went out to get in the car yesterday the battery had died AGAIN. We both wee busy today so didn't have a chance to call Wagoneer services. Hoping to get some answers very soon as we shouldn't be dealing with this at this price point. I have 2 small children and its pretty sad that I can rely more on my 15 year old SUV (Chrysler Aspen) more that this Wagoneer. We knew going into this purchase that this was a new launch and there may be some hiccups, but we didn't realize it would be this frustrating.

Mine goes in the shop on Monday for virtually the same thing. I'll post the results when I have them. I'm trusting my dealer with have the correct loaner as promised.

So how many days went by before you drove it. Just wondering for my own info. I keep all my vehicles on battery maintainers. 2 cars and 2 motorcycles. When I get my GWSIII I'm going to want to wire it for the maintainer. However, I don't want to put it on a maintainer until after I see if mine is going to have the same problem. Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks for the info. You do have the Wagoneer not Grand Wagoneer? If so I wonder if the GW's are having similar problems. If not I would think it's related to the eTorque? Hope they get it worked out soon.
Correct! Its a Wagoneer not GW. We got it back from the dealer today and waiting to see if it was a connection issue that they fixed or if it will die again. Fingers crossed the issue is resolved but I have a funny feeling...

Our Series 3 was completely dead after not being driven for nearly 2 days over the Thanksgiving holiday. We're in Western North Carolina, and the temperature had been down in the low 20's. We were told by our dealer that they've had the same issue with Cherokee L's, and that Chrysler is aware of the cold temp starting issue. Apparently has something to do with batteries?? One is used for starting that may not have enough cold cranking amps and another runs all the electronics. I did get mine starting by jumping it off with my Dodge Ram. Taking it in tomorrow for them to look at mine as well as to perform the recall.
My takeaway is to be sure any carry a $60.00 set of jumper cables in your $90k Wagoneer.

It's not a cold temp issue. Mine is in the shop right now for the same issue and I live in Vegas. Hasn't gotten below 50 degrees here.

Ugh @SMR2022 - please let us know any follow up information you glean from the dealer. It was a chilly 28 here in Northern VA this morning - but so far, the ole gal is firing right up without hesitation (garage kept).

I am also in Northern, VA and mine is not in a garage currently (not even sure if it will fit when I get the garage cleaned back out) and it's been starting up just fine... so far.

Even without the power mirror option (#JeepFail) - on the W/SIII - mine fits with about 1" clearance on each side and about 10" clearance in front to close door. TIGHT for sure!

Loudoun here. Where are you located?

Woodbridge (Prince William County), technically, but right where Manassas/Dumfries/Woodbridge meet around 234 and Spriggs.

Got it back from the dealer yesterday. They said that they uploaded new software and put in a (third) new battery. It's running at about 12.6 V.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Tech said "You're fine between 12.5 and 14.2." Nevada requires 4 visits to the shop with the same problem for Lemon Laws. If it drops again, it will be visit number 3.

I just got my W/SIII last week. Woke up this morning to a dead battery. It’s currently at the service shop. I drove it yesterday and it wasn’t colder than 40s last night. So frustrating to hear others with this issue too. I called to check on it but they just said they were “still testing” 🤦🏼‍♀️

Update on my original post. We have had our WSIII back for almost 2 weeks and haven't had a battery issue since. Had previously died 3 times. They replaced the battery and did recall update and so far so good. Its the longest the car has gone without dying it.
