Auto Start/Stop Eliminator - Free if you can take your wagoneer to WV

We have a Wagoneer and my wife REALLY hates the auto start/stop "Feature" and the fact you can't permanently disable it. I exchanged email with the folks at TRL Automotive that make a device that will allow us to permanently disable it. They would offer anyone with a Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer a free device PLUS $300 cash if you would take your truck and allow them about 6 hours to create the prototype. You'd have to drive it to Fairmont West Virginia, but you can stay with the vehicle the whole time if you like. Below is the message I received from Jessica Lambert at TRL Automotive (email: jessica@trlauto.com). You should contact her directly and work the details. Good luck and the rest of us will benefit from your time investment!

As soon as we can get a Wagoneer here to use to make the device.

New products depend on the vehicles customers bring us. We could possibly work with you to make one if you want to bring the vehicle to Fairmont, WV. We'd do it for free and pay you $300 for your time because we could then offer the device for sale to others. We don't need to drive your vehicle and you could stay with your vehicle the entire time. It usually takes about 5-6 hours to put together a prototype and test it. Let me know if you're interested.

Or, some vehicles have come to us because someone posted on forums/Facebook/social media and found someone with the same vehicle closer to us and they brought the vehicle to us. Just throwing that out in case you participate in the forums and can help us and help yourself get the device sooner by getting someone to bring us a vehicle. Otherwise, I'll let you know if/when a device is made available.

Hmmmmm. I'd be cautious and careful and avoid @TRL......
EPA and the Clean Air Act
The Clean Air Act has something to say about disabling any part of your automobile that has to do with its emissions. Tampering with the emissions control systems once a vehicle is certified for sale is a big deal. The fines for doing so are in the thousands of dollars. Per vehicle. VW did it recently. After billions in fines and even jail sentences we thought we’d never hear anyone try that again. Then FCA America settled a suit over the same type of issue. These are corporations who act on a much larger scale than just you me and our local mechanic. But is the law any different for us regular Joe’s?

How does what you mentioned above square with the fact that you can order some Ford models with the AutoStart/Stop feature disabled? Double Standard?
Or how about just plain old hypocracy?

Unsure to be honest, @JeepGuy...... don't get me wrong, I don't like the auto start/stop feature and often hit the "over ride" button - but also know that most state inspection stations (here in Virginia anyway) - will fail you if you have tampered with the EPA regulated system.

I reached out to her. It’s a haul From north of pittsburgh but need one for my 21 gladiator and 21 bronco also. So hopefully kill 3 for 1. I didn’t buy this for fuel mpg and the worst thing you can do to a engine is start up. very hard on timing chain, engine internals, transmission, safety issue as well. On the expedition with the 3.5 turbo it’s stretching timing chains and putting out of timing On start ups. my local dealer is starting to see a bunch of them. FYI.

Yup, fully agree. I also would like to see the numbers that validate it actually saves fuel. The biggest consumption would be accelerating away from the light after the restart. Idling at a light for 30 seconds is minimal impact.
