Adjusted Market Value is a money grab......

Happening elsewhere, too. Ford sent letters to all dealers not to play games with the Lightning F-150 EV, or you may lose your allocation:

It's a tough line to walk, as dealers are truly independent, and manufacturer rulebooks largely state we can advise you on pricing, but cannot control your pricing (I work for a different manufacturer), but this move by GM and Ford is a more severe push to really help disuade the wild markups ruining customer experience on some high end models.

Customers are actually paying upcharges without blinking, in many cases, but for others it just makes the purchase experience a truly unsatisfactory struggle.

Ford had enough constant complaints from Bronco people waiting a year, only to get surprise forced addendums on their custom order at pick up, they're trying to nip this new launch in the bud however possible.

100% agree! The used car valuation is also insane these days. Here's a local example I just saw this morning!

Lack of inventory, high demand...up go the prices. The used car market is starting to show signs of stabilizing a bit, and come down gently, but not drastically yet.

Yet another reason why so many manufacturer banks (if they hadn't already) put locks on their lease buyouts (Honda, GM, Ford, Kia, Mercedes, BMW, etc.) so people would stop dumping their leases early at Carmax/Carvana/etc. and cashing out with an equity check--and those cars not making it back to the originating dealers, to sell again as CPO. Sucks if you need to get out of one, but many manufacturers are shoving some new rules in place where they can.

New car addendums is a tough one to have any say in though, as "they are independent businesses" by the rulebook, but manufacturers try to fight it from a different angle by picking apart their poor customer surveys, reviews, etc. when they over charge or are rough to deal with, and go in that way--customer satisfaction scores actually take more precedent, in many ways.

Exhibit "A" - this is just a scumbag dealership! $50k uncharge on a Jeep SRT - but wait, you get $1000 F&F discount! @FairOaks CJDR - Chantilly, VA.

Yeah. It's that hope "we don't have many, so let's just bump the price high and see what attention we get. Maybe a customer will negotiate the addendum but still pay part of it and we'll have a model to show..." thought.

All, I'm starting to see a strange change online for new builds. It seems like some Dealers are starting to edit/modify what they show as a 'Window Sticker' doc. I just saw a GWIII show a BASE price of $107,995, then add on paint pricing inflated by $50 more (now showing 645), and charging $595 for making the 2nd row a bench. I'd seen others during this month with changing base MSRPs, this latest one is the most drastic. Go to the Jeep Wagoneer official site and it still has the MSRP listed as it has been since last Summer's hike, 104,845.

I've been skeptical of the Window Stickers shown online since none of them actually have the Dealership info on them as the delivery location. Anyone else notice this move, especially after the Money Grab/AMV routine started to get hammered by the Manufacturers? For me, I'm using it as another way to gauge how shifty the dealership is when I see it, curious about any other interesting routines are being used now.

I'm from South Florida and drive to to North Carolina to get a grand series 3 with heavy duty tow and they didn't add any silly fees nor market adjustments. Well worth the trip.

That's funny b/c we drove down to South FL from NJ during the Holidays. Ended up selling my leased GX to Carmax down there and getting a new WII4x4 from a large dealership. They had several models in stock, no mark-ups, actually walked away getting it about 2.5k below msrp. If anyone needs a recommendation I can provide a contact.

@GrandWagSoFlo - did you buy a White with Blue Agave interior from Leith Jeep in Cary? I looked at that one to see what the blue agave interior truly looked liked! Then I ordered black because I hated the thought of a toddler, infant and 2 dogs destroying such a beautiful thing. I’m still waiting for mine to arrive.

That is a great dealership, I have purchased 4 jeeps from them.
We’re Leith faithful. Have bought several cars from a variety of their dealerships - mostly Land Rovers. Always have top notch service. I’m looking forward to their WCS commitment…if only mine would arrive 😂. And congrats on the GW! I hope it’s enjoying its life in Florida.

When calling around trying to find the GW I wanted I encountered many dealers asking for 20-30k above the 115k MSRP...these dealers were a non starter. I did purchase from our local dealer who sourced the vehicle and I paid the 115k MSRP. They were able to get the one I wanted within a week and have it delivered and so far have been responsive to the few issues I've had.

I ceased my buy back for this very reason. I called every lux dealer with ANYTHING in stock from Maine to FLA and NOT ONE - wanted to talk sticker price.
This is a very interesting time we live.
Brand loyalty used to mean alot to me. My lineage with FCA is long but its coming to a close. This has been a first class CF from get go!

This might be why my dealer is saying they don’t accept affiliate pricing. I’m still waiting for delivery and will bring my employee ID to them to try for the discount but who knows anymore.
Though I think the Wagoneers are becoming more prevalent now that you see the $3000 off plus .9% offers on them. No offers on the GW at this time though. Makes sense though because the wagoneers are competing with Tahoes, Yukons and the like - which are offering 0% financing now.

Once my replacement WS3 is finished, if the dealership tries to screw me on my current WS3 trade-in value, I'm selling it at auction, which us where dealerships are selling a lot of their allocations these days anyway.

It's called outsourcing our Manufacturing skills and business to countries that absolutely don't care about doing business with us. Then we tell every kid as they grew up, hey, you have to go get a 4 year degree or you are less than everyone else.

It's pure economic warfare, and we (USA politicians and Business owners) helped it happen. The result of this 'Global Economy', we get put over a barrel as the old saying goes.
