2022 Wagoneer Series III Issues

Hey all-

Loved my Wagoneer when I first bought it. Within 400 miles, the battery died. I took it back to the dealership (Desert215 in Las Vegas), and they told me that the batteries had been produced well before the car was ready so it was just drained. Got it back, battery died again at 900 miles. It's now been at the dealership for 10 days. The dealership is blaming Chrysler for not getting back to them for approvals on parts. Telling me that they were uploading new software. Something was draining the battery. The battery might have been bad. ETC.

Called Chrysler Customer care and they were even more useless. Said that a "star case" had been opened and a "team of engineers" was working on the case. The dealership was waiting for approval from these engineers. When I asked what the delay was on the approval, I was told that she didn't have any contact with the engineers. I politely explained my frustrations with her, and her response was "I don't know what to say.".......wow.

Not only does my $100K truck suck, but the level of customer service does too.

Batch of bad batteries, the same ones the plagued the RAM launch, you’d think they would learn..sure enough though, I promise you’ll just need a new battery.

Although I’ve already had the new battery replaced, and it died? And something is draining it when the vehicle is off?

Did they find an issue source? Mine is still in the shop for the same thing. Dead battery being drained from an unidentifiable reason

They said that there was a software update. They also replaced the battery again. I've had it back for a week or so now. Not 100% convinced it's fixed, but it hasn't had issues yet. Call the client services line. Make sure they've opened a "Star Case". It sometimes takes them a few days to follow up, but they will. They will call your dealer and make sure that the dealer is doing everything too.

thank you

Update on my service. I was told yesterday after they replaced the battery and drove it around with a meter there was something still pulling the volts down. They found something with the back entertainment system that kept clicking on and off that apparently is the culprit. Waiting on some type of replacement computer for that to be replaced tomorrow.

FWIW, my WSIII has not had any dead battery issues since they fixed the amplifier battery drain issue. I, too, went through the dead battery thing twice (a mere 150 miles on the vehicle, and then at 1,500). I had it towed from my house the second time from my house. FYI, the Neutral release to the left of the steering column (remove plastic face and pull yellow chord) did not release the wheels! I think the parking brake was on and couldn't be turned off with a dead battery! (Profile pic with drag marks haha)

Greetings, brand new member and WSIII owner. Took delivery tonight and the battery actually died during PDI. They jumped it and let us take it home since we were past closing. I suspect they may be jumping us tomorrow before we bring it back in for a battery replacement. I hope they hook a voltmeter up to it so it isn't an issue of continual drainage ie the amplifier drain issue. I guess we will see!

Sounds like it probably didn't get the Amplifier Battery drain software fix.
Just got it back and so far, so good. I believe they replaced the battery and did a software flash. Will be setting services up, etc, over the next few days as time permits and will see what we have.

I’m having the same battery issue it seems. Bought the Wagoneer Series III on December, drove less than a 1000 miles and one morning it was dead. When I pushed the start button several displays flashed and it made many clicking noises. I jumped off the battery with my other truck and it started right up. Didn’t have any more problems. Just this morning its dead again, around 2000 miles total. Pushing the start button again got a few flashing displays and lots of clicking in the gear shifter. Something is definitely pulling on the battery when its off.

Did your dealer do the software patch for this amplifier drain issue that appears to be a culprit? Please let us know if they pinpoint the source. First model year vehicles… *sigh*

Not yet - I’ve got an appointment with them early next week and I’m hoping that fixes the problem.

HI there, new to the forum. Regarding the "battery drain" issues. Our dealer just received a service update from Stellantis regarding an issue with the keys. If you store them anywhere closer than 20 ft. from the vehicle, it will activate some of the electronics, thereby draining the battery. We just had ours replaced within two days of purchase. Looks like we're storing out keys elsewhere for now until a software update occurs

😮 We haven’t had that particular key issue (yet), but my wife is going crazy due to “key fob not detected” messages coming up with the key in her purse in the second row. That led to a triggered theft alarm when she unlocked the doors. Will have the dealer replace the fob batteries and see if that improves …
It is FUN being a beta-tester, huh? 🙄

Same thing is happening with my 8 day old Grand Cherokee L. Both key fobs are not working; alarm goes off when I use the key to unlock the door; unable start car. Waiting for it to get towed to the dealer. Has anyone heard anything about a recall or what Jeep is doing to address this financially? I want to get rid of this - who knows where when it’ll happen again.

Definitely seems to be a brand issue. I don't know if it is just poor design, QC, what, but Stellantis really needs to get it together.
